Are there any restrictions on my use of the images that I download?
Yes. While Jan Richardson Images offers great freedoms and a wide range of uses, we do have guidelines regarding how these images may be used. Please visit Guidelines for Use or send us a note if you have questions about a particular use.
How long does it take to download my photos once I have purchased them? Your photos will be available once your PayPal purchase is verified, usually immediately. If you are paying by check, your images will be available after your payment has been received.
How will I receive my photos? For those without an annual subscription: a download link will be sent to you in an email once your payment is processed. You have 30 days to download your purchased images from the site.
I've purchased an annual subscription. How do I download my images?
Click on "Log In To Your Account" (under "Options" in the left sidebar) and enter your email and password. Choose any image you'd like to download. Click "download." A window will pop up that asks, "This will cost a download. Do you wish to continue?" Click "yes" to download, and you're set! If you have a subscription, you can download as many images (within the usage guidelines) as you'd like. I'm a subscriber and am logged into my account. I've picked an image to download. Why does it still say that the price is $15.00? The photo details page is the same for subscribers as for non-subscribers, so the price still shows up. This cost does not
apply to subscribers. If you have an annual subscription and are logged into your account, you will not be charged. Simply click "download" and proceed as described above.
How do I credit Jan’s artwork? Wherever you use one of Jan’s images, we ask that you include this credit line:
Title of artwork © Jan L. Richardson.
We would welcome your including a link to janrichardson.com as a way of supporting her ministry.
If you are projecting an image via PowerPoint, it is not necessary to include the credit line with the image. If it is possible to include it in printed form (for instance, in a worship bulletin), that would be great.
May I create a fine art print from one of Jan’s images?
We ask that you do not create fine art prints from any image. We are pleased to offer art prints of all of the images on this site and would be delighted to send you any that you would like. Select the image you'd like and scroll down to "Prints & Products" to place an order. If you would like a large-format print (wider than 13 inches) of any of Jan’s images—for instance, for a church or conference setting—we are happy to be in conversation about this. Please contact us for permission and include a brief description of how you’d like to use the image(s).
My church is putting together a devotional booklet. May we use some of Jan’s work? We are pleased to make Jan’s work available in this way on a case-by-case basis. Please write us for permission and share with us a brief description of your booklet, how many you anticipate printing, and whether you’ll be selling it or distributing it free of charge.
May I adapt one of Jan’s images as a banner? We are pleased for you to use Jan’s artwork in liturgical settings as banners, vestments, altar cloths, and the like. We do ask that you contact us for permission and include a brief description of your proposed project.
I’d like to use Jan’s artwork for a (choose one or more): book, magazine, journal, t-shirt, CD cover, greeting card, publicity material, logo... May I? We love to receive these inquiries! They do fall outside the uses granted by this website, so we would welcome receiving your direct inquiry regarding these or any other uses not covered by the guidelines. Please drop us a line.
If I purchase an annual subscription, may I continue to use a downloaded image after the year is up? We ask that you do not do this. Purchasing an annual subscription enables you to download as many images as you’d like in the course of a year, and to use them as many times as you’d like, within the guidelines. The right to use the image expires along with the subscription. (And, honestly, the images spoil and go all stinky after the expiration date.) If you’d like to reuse an image after your annual subscription has expired, we’d be thrilled for you to sign up for another year or to download the image for the per-image fee.
If I purchase a subscription, are there any other fees I will encounter when downloading from the site? Nope! An annual subscription allows you full access to download any images on our site at no extra charge.
May I share my account with someone? No, sharing an account is no different than distributing our materials to others. Individual accounts must be purchased by your friends and colleagues.
What format are the photos in? All images are in high-resolution JPG format and are 2100 pixels wide.
I’d like to sign up for an annual subscription but the fee is beyond the resources of my church (or other nonprofit group). Can you work with me on this? We are pleased to make Jan’s artwork available to nonprofit communities that may not be able to afford an annual subscription. Please send us a brief note describing your setting and let us know what resources you might have available to support this ministry. We’ll be happy to work with you.
I’m rolling in bucks. How can I help? Okay, this is not a frequently asked question, but we love to receive it! Jan’s creative ministry involves raising her entire income, and we are thrilled when people participate in this ministry by making a contribution. Your contribution to The Wellspring Studio, LLC, enables Jan to continue in this ministry and helps make it possible to provide her artwork to congregations that are not able to provide the full fee. Please visit Be a Patron for more information. Thank you!
I bought a subscription, but it says I'm not activated, what do I do? On rare occasions our merchant processors may not send the information of your transaction to our system, so your account may not be automatically activated. Therefore, if you have made a purchase of our yearly subscription and you are not able to access images using your details, send a support request. We will track down and deal with the culprits accordingly.
I’d like to order an image or subscription but don’t want to sign up for PayPal. Is there an alternative? You do not have to sign up for PayPal in order to place an order. When the ordering process links you to the PayPal page, you can elect to pay by a credit card instead of through a PayPal account. If you do not want to place an order with a credit card online, you can choose to pay by check, and we’ll approve your order manually.
Do you offer refunds? Once your purchase is made we cannot offer a refund. The reason for this policy is because we offer full access to our entire digital collection of images and, as such, there is no way for our products to be returned. On rare occasions we will make exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
